Potty Training Woes

The potty in question
Ok to take a break from jewelry for awhile I want to whine about the joys of potty training.  My daughter, Kaylie, will be coming up on her 3rd birthday this July and although it's perfectly ok that's she's not potty trained just yet, I'd like to move things along.  She's got all the signs the books and experts say a child should have if they're ready for training and she even excited about using the potty!  What's the hitch you ask?  She will only use the potty at my mother's house but not here.  She gets really excited about using hers and my mom even has the same one, but she won't do anything more than sit on it.  I take her to the potty every few hours and I praise her for trying and I'm glad she thinks it's fun but I do wish she would go, I'm rather eager for the end of diapers!

I've heard tons of advice from telling your kid they have to wear underwear and just deal with it to buying an arsenal of potty training 101 books, toys and DVDs.  The problem is that I do like my furniture and don't want to intentionally test my Ashley Furniture 5 year warranty nor do I want to blow my husband's entire paycheck on the Elmo's potty training series.  Other than her not actually going in the potty here there is no issue.  She loves it and she loves sitting on it, and she even knows how to use it.  She just seems to think you only go in the potty at Nana's house or pee in her tub (close enough lol).   I guess in time she will eventually use it or I will find a way to magically predict when she has to go so she'll do more than just sitting there singing about her potty!

For you moms who've been there, feel free to laugh :)  This mommy is still determined to have her little one in underwear by her birthday in July!

New Treasury!

Just wanted to share some treasuries I just made :)

Yay For Fast Internet and a Few New Goodies!

So we finally joined the rest of civilization and upgraded to broadband internet!  Why we had been going on for nearly two years (yes, TWO years!  Insanity!) with a horrible slow poke connection and dealing with the "page cannot be displayed" for the millionth time in a row is beyond me.  So now I can finally take advantage of the wonderfulness that is Windows 7 on our new computer and not spend all day doing simple little things for my business   Horray!  Never mind me getting excited over simple things, you have no idea the agony my previous internet connection gave me!

Wild Things
My little daughter is indulged in the world of Max and Ruby so I have a few minutes to announce some items that are new to my shop, and of course lots of new things are coming too!  I made up an album on my Facebook page of upcoming jewelry so you can get a sneak peek before I list them!  First up is a little collection of super cute animal print Scrabble tile pendants I call Wild Things.  They're hand painted by me just like all my tiles and come in zebra, leopard, and tiger print!
Ladybug Flowers

I've also listed a cute ladybug themed anklet called Ladybug Flowers that is playful and adorable for summer!  All the red and black beads are Czech glass and feature a bright red and black lined ladybug with detailed red flowers blooming all around the anklet.

Seaside
I've also listed a new charm bracelet, Seaside,  that is a treasure trove of ocean inspired goodness!  Sea stars, sea shells and a playful dolphin are surrounded by waves of blue and frosted white beads!  There's a bit of everything on here besides the charms including glass beads, wood beads, and mother of pearl nuggets in a variety of shapes and many are topped with pretty bead caps for an added touch!

I've got another show I'll be in next month as well!  I'll be doing a joint show with Sue Bosetti, another local jewelry crafter who works with glass pendants, crystal, and gemstones.  She doesn't do anything over the internet so I've no links for you to check out her stuff, but that's all the more reason to join us for the show!  Here's a flyer I made and will be posting around town soon too!  You can see some examples of what she makes in the photos on the top of the flyer.  Gorgeous stuff!

Here's a few gorgeous treasuries I've had the honor of being in recently!  I found this cool carousel widget while reading Sweet Sincerity's  blog, it's really nice and saves space!

A Few New Things

Fat Cat-Calico
Fat Cat-Tabbies
Now that I have some time on my hands before my next show in June I can get around to adding the oodles of new jewelry I have yet to list on Etsy!  I've listed a few new things and there's TONS more to come, I'll be trickling in new listings every few days :)

First up is an extension of my Fat Cat Folk Art tile, these are his oh-so-adorable brothers orange and grey tabby!  I also have a calico available in the original Fat Cat listing that's just as cute as the black and white kitty!  These little cuties were such a joy to paint and everyone loved them at my recent shows!

Green earth Anklet
Next up is my Green Earth Anklet, a lovely earth toned three chain anklet with wood and shell heishi beads.  I love the warm mix of bronze and copper together and it looks lovely in this piece!  I used several natural beads to make the links within the chain including genuine shell heishi, olive green wooden beads, and pretty artwood beads with a striped geometric design.  Perfect for you down to earth gals ;)

Smoke Royalty Earrings
Last for now is a new color in my Royalty earring series, Smoke.  I've had this color for some time but actually forgot about it until digging through my beads recently!  Just like the others, they are made of 10mm faceted Czech glass rounds with matching 4mm faceted rounds underneath and topped off with lovely ornate bead caps.  I'm glad I found the beads though, they certainly are pretty!

Here's a cute treasury I've been in recently, please check it out!

I'm Happy I Broke My Old Photo Prop Because....

I absolutely LOVE my new one!  Tragedy struck when setting up for a jewelry party.  I had my green glass leaf wrapped in a tablecloth ironically to keep it from getting broken.  I forgot it was in there and CRASH, a million green slivers flew across the floor!  I was mad of course for my own forgetfulness but had that not happened, I'd of never found these beauties in Sumiko's Etsy shop! She sells out of California and makes the most GORGEOUS nature inspired ceramics, I want them all!  Check out the pretty 2-piece antique blue hydrangea ceramic leaves I just got in the mail today from her!
